Photo Hunt!
I had so much fun at my cousin's bachelorette party this past weekend. It did not consist of going "out", drinking too much, or any of the status quo bachelorette stuff... it was just the beach, relaxing, and having delicious food with FUN people!
For fun, at dinner we took two shots for a photo hunt--- how many differences can you spot??? Look close! You can click on the photos to enlarge...

Can You Help??
Get this song out of my head?
I mean, truth be told, with the busy life we've had lately, I would love to replace one of the "Pirate's Who Don't Do Anything".
Ahhh... the thought of staying home and lying around.
Maybe after the group presentation I'm assisting with to the Board of Education to help keep jobs in the school district, the two house showings this weekend, my mom's 60th birthday bash Sunday(can't wait!),and my baby boy's 3rd birthday Tuesday/party Saturday..Yes, then-if you ask me to do anything, I'll just tell you- I don't do anything.
Those Pirates are full of great ideas.

Quote of the Week
Last night, as we were leaving my sister's house, Adam wanted to take one of his Fisher Price Little People with him in his pocket. Anyone who knows my kids well knows that they call any type of small figurine a "BOB". (I can't remember why.)
So, when we were leaving Adam was wiggling and grabbing, pee pee dance style. I said, "Adam, go potty before we go", and he said
"I don't have to mom, I am just touching my BOB"
Hahahahaha!

What's Goin' On.
Seriously, not a lot going on here to post about.
Those changes on the horizon are perhaps a little further off than I thought. Strangely, I am more than at peace with this.
Adam has taken to doing a serious air drum solo when Zachary goes on the potty. He just may be my secret weapon this time around. I hope to have a video soon to do it justice.
Zachary has been managing his anger by beating the floor with his fist when told "no". Hard not to laugh at this, and I am also hoping that he does not sprain his hand.
Halloween costumes have been decided. Although I am not a huge Halloween person, I am also not a fan of making my kids sit out and not be able to participate with all their friends. They are cute, and Zachary would be so excited if he was aware that in about a week he will get a ton of candy AND most likely get most of his brothers', who needs to be bribed to eat most sweets. (If he had not been the only child born in the hospital that day AND be the spitting image of his father I would be concerned here).
I took a walk down memory lane on some of my old Facebook photo albums. Geesh, what a difference a year makes. My babies are growing up and there are days where I wish I could freeze frame them... I have just loved the last year. Does anyone know how to do this? E-mail me.
I am hoping that if we continue to watch this video, which is all the rage at the moment, that Zachary might start to sing it so we can laugh at him.
That's about it! Book review to come soon. Some pics too.

Couple Knows it Really is A Small (Disney) World After All
I am not a super-sappy romantic, but anyone who doesn't go "awwww" at this one is dead inside.

I Have More Time On My Hands Than I Would Like to Admit
My kids love old school Sesame Street, The Muppets, and many other kids movies. It's amusing to me, but as all children love repetition, mine are no exception. This leaves me to apparently have time to examine many a character and consider just who they look like that I know.
Here are some finds.
This one's kinda obvious... Snow White and my friend Tara. She's even been hired semi-professionaly for this. I think she could make a career out of it!

All through Idol Season 5 I was trying to place Taylor Hicks... I swear he was so familiar. Then one day it hit me...

Even the kids, on their own, shout out "Grandpy" (my dad) when they see this guy, who actually has a name...Mr. Johnson.

Now this guy is just a backup singer or something, but a dead ringer for Kevin from the office.. wouldn't you say?

Adam-isms

My soon-to-be four year old says some funny things I just don't want to forget, but know I will if I don't document them! Here a sampling of his most recent thoughts
- While on the computer with my sister, he sees a picture of her heavily tattooed friend. He says "that boy must be really good at going on the potty". (he was rewarded with tattoos during his potty training, fyi).
- While doing some flash card type things with my mom, she shows him a card with jelly on it. My mom says "and how do you spell jelly?", to which Adam replies "J-E-ELEVEN-Y"
- His craft this week was a seedling they had planted at school. It began to grow and we took it home. I was trying to see if he knew what the plant was- like tomatoes or green beans or something... Adam says "it will grow hot dogs and corn with the cob on it", his favorite meal.
-While watching American Idol, we discuss Crystal's harmonica. A few minutes later, it's clear he's still thinking about this and he says "A harmonica is a musical instrument, but a Monica is a person" (admittedly, I have Friends on a lot).

A Hairdo Only a Mother Could Love
My kids' hair, at times, can look a little crazy. These are the moments I think they look the cutest!

So this morning, during the kids bath, I caught a scary glance of myself in the mirror. I then realized that perhaps crazy hair is hereditary.

And this confirmed my suspicion.

The Way Out of a Funk
Sometimes, I get into "funks".
Anyone else??? (please say yes, please say yes...)
I get into a series of days where I feel just so BLAH . Then, usually it passes and things are normal again.
Usually, an upsetting event triggers it. Sometimes, an argument with a family memeber, others a situation at work that's bothering me. It's the middle child/peacemaker/perfectionist in me, I suppose.
This time, my Ipod being stolen from my car was it. (Oh, and did I mention it's the second one this year?) I barely had time to get attached to it.

**SIGH**, some criminal out the hopefully has discovered Christian and country music is not so bad.
So, I thought it was a good idea to focus on the things I like right now. The things that make me smile, even if some are superficial. (-:
My new earrings

Pictures from my 30th Birthday Party

Old Faithful

My Hubby, who rather than get annoyed with my when I am in my funks, tries hard to make me happy

Laura Mercer Mascara (if I feel fat, my eyelashes may as well be, too)

"Ladybug, Where Are You" (Zachary is constantly in search of a ladybug, or "Aye-ee-ugggg", and he gets too distracted by the video camera to show us his live cuteness)

I already feel better.

The More Things Change...
The more they stay the same!
I still do not know what I am going to do with him.
But, I am obviously in for a good time as I figure it out!
Cheesin'

Who can resist a set of baby blues?

We spare our children no comforts

For the 100th time today "Zachary STOP JUMPING ON THE COUCH" (and I teach parenting classes... lol)

"I dare you not to love me"

I Heart My Cell Phone Camera
Thankful that when I cannot grab our awesome but large camera that I can usually capture some fun with my subpar but very accessible phone!
Moms out there...do pursed-lip-pass-outs melt you like they melt me??

And how about those fun moments where you know you must strip your kid down so they can enjoy their favorite snack (oh, and pardon the randomness of my dinner table)?

Or times when the thing you absolutely don't need turns out to be just the thing they needed...
And, I've spent the better part of the last week with the image of Adam's smitten face at the sight of Santa at Walmart...
3 seems to be the magic age where Christmas means something to them.
It didn't hurt that he yelled 'Santa, I need a drum!" as we walked away.

Heigh Ho!

We dig dig dig dig dig dig dig in our mine the
whole day through....In a mine! In a mine! In a mine! In a mine!
Where a million diamonds shine! Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho
Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
It's home from work we go..
[Whistle]
That's the song that's been buzzing around our house the last week or two (and, frankly, plaguing our minds at work and in public). Adam has a new love- Snow White. We have been trying to convince him that the Dwarves are cool too, which he has bought, for the most part. He loves to sing and march to "heigh ho"... we love to laugh as he squeaks the whistle part and makes everyone follow him around the living room with drumsticks in place of pick axes. Even Zachary has been chiming in with his version... "hi-oh-hi-oh"
Here is the best version of the video I could get... as soon as you start videoing a 3 year old they get distracted... Listen closely though and you will hear Adam's version of a whistle, which in my opinion is the highlight.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

So, it all started when I explained to my son Adam that inside my cousin April's belly was not a ball, but a baby. (But, we've gotta give him some credit, look at that perfect belly --->).
So, a day or two later, while lying down with him for bed, I see him look curiously and then hear:
Adam: "Mommy, you got baseballs?"
Me: "No, honey" (trying hard not to laugh, and somewhat mortified too)
Adam "Um , Mommy... you got babies?"
Me: "No Adam, it's just part of my body"
Adam: "Mmmm, looks like baseballs"
I'm not ready for this.
For now, we'll just leave it as is.
