If someone had asked me 9 years and one day ago where I would see myself in nine years and one day- I probably would have painted a picture pretty much like what I am living on a day to day basis- a couple kids, pretty good jobs, nice home, and happily married to Paul.
I do not take this for granted (or try not to), and am thankful for this simple, easy hand our little family has been dealt. I realize that at anytime things can change dramatically in any family, and I am continually thankful.
So, here we are celebrating 9 years of marriage, one year away from that big ten milestone... and truly I could not ask for more that this everyday love.
What I never can quite anticipate, though, is these milestones through the eyes of my children. Jumping up and down, shouting HAPPY ANNIVERSARY with their "beautiful" presents my mom- ever thoughtful- let them pick out themselves from the dollar store.
And the ideas- one paticularly, that nearly made me drive off the road in a fit of laughter this morning:
"Hey mom, are you going to make daddy a steak for your anniversary and hold it while he bites it?"
Woah...WHAT?
That's one way to be romantic.
I will be making steak tonight, but be assured as much as I love my husband, and as happy and proud as I am of these last 9 years- he'll be cutting and eating it himself.
Their gifts... they're so proud
