It's Just a Stepping Stone

I have to say, I do not give enough "props" to my husband. He's given up a lot for me- moved from his home, his parents, all that was familiar to him. All to be with me... wow, that says a lot.

Pardon the cheesiness.. but here goes.

This week, some lyrics of an Alan Jackson song have entered my mind a few times...

"Remember when I was young and so were you, and time stood still and love was all we knew....Remember when we vowed the vows and walked the walk...Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard...We lived and learned, life threw curves.... Remember when 30 seemed so old, now looking back it's just a stepping stone, to where we are, where we've been, said we'd do it all again..."

As my hubby turns 30 this weekend, I can only hope the rest of the lyrics to that song resemble our much anticipated future life together! As we approach 10 years together, we are now able to look back and remember when... it's nice...

Now, off with Paul to get his senior citizens disouunt at the local Bob Evans, lol.

Through the years....

We Had a Blast!

We had such a nice time! Despite the crazy busy parks and insane travel expierence, we were again blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy time with family at the Happiest Place On Earth!

The Kite Runner in Review

Lately I have struggled with things to write about. While my life is not boring, it does tend to get repetitive. Fortunately, this is just fine by me.

So, anyway, my goal of reading more this year is off to a slow start. But, I did recently finish The Kite Runner by Khalad Hosseni. What a neat book. Certainly not your "feel good" Nicolas Sparks type book, but an eye opener. One that makes you think- about relationships, about the easy life we have here in our luxury life of freedom and safety, even with the hardships of economy and daily life.

In the book, there are two boys... one a poor servant boy (Hassan)and the other the "servee", a rich and more fortunate child (Amir). Hassan and Amir are playmates, like brothers- one living in the main mansion, the other in the servant house. But, due to the cultural differences Amir is always above Hassan. Hassan is highly loyal to Amir, and a gentle spirit, unconditional friend. In the book, Hassan continually makes sacrifice (big ones) for Amir... and says "for you, 1000 times over...", to express his steadfast friendship. In the end, Amir has to attempt to friendship of his devoted Hassan.

I realized through this book that there are only a handful of people in my life that I can say "for you, 1000 times over". It's for those people I am who I am today.

You know who you are.

First Birthday

My baby is one today.
So much has changed in the last year for our family.... new baby, new jobs, new way of life.
I love our life, and am grateful to have my precious family with me at every turn.
As an additional blessing, we were able to dedicate Zachary to the Lord today, committing in front or our family (both blood and church families) to raise him to know and believe in Jesus.
Happy Birthday Zachary!

Unexpected joy!

Something that I have noticed lately as Adam is closer to turning three is that he is starting to make some little friends. He has always played well with others, but now he has actual little buddies that he laughs with and can name.
It's such a blessing to have him come home from school and talk about Ty, Derek, Jimmy, and Julie... and also tell me that Hannah had to go in time out, and that Mia went potty. When I see Adam and Selah, his BFF since infancny, playing and loving each other, I am blessed.
This may seem like an insignificant thing to some, but to me this is such an exciting thing!! Though sometimes I feel sad that my boys are growing so fast, I always prayed that they would make friends easily, and it looks like it's starting!

Who's who... an 11 month comparison

While I try not to compare the boys, here are some pictures at about the 11 month mark of each of them.
Zachary took his first steps today... a baby no more, but still MY baby.
Take a guess... it's not too hard, but I had to black and white them because their eyes are so different.
