Top 10 of 2008
I decided to reflect on 2008, a year filled with lots of great moments for me. There were certainly trying times, changes. stress, and sadness, but overall a teriffic year. Here are my top 10 moments from the the year. I could have done 20, I am sure, but I wanted to do the highlights.
I must note, it was hard to put them in order, some of them were really equally number ones... but I did what I could.
Again and again, I remember that we are blessed.
10. Our overnight to Niagara Falls, ON. It had been a while since we got away, so it was great! Good view, good food, fantastic soaking tub. Enough said.
9. Celebrating big events and new arrivals for some great friends...Matt and Michelle got married in May, births included Moriah and Ned in March, Ollie in April, Raia and Levi in May, Drew and Johnathan in August (may we never forget his precious little face and the "beautiful grace" that he brought to so many), Lilah in September, Alexander in November! Congratulations to all!!
8. Getting to be a stay at home mom for a few months! That was a great experience, one I miss everyday. In this includes Tuesday's at Tara's, the zoo, all summer activities. I should couple this with getting my new job that's been great all around.
7. Along with my sisters, throwing my dad a surprise 60th birthday party on January 21, 2008. It was a huge success, and really meant a lot to my dad.
6. My husband's hard work as a husband, father, employee, and student. I do not give him the credit he deserves. He has been so great at balancing the demands of all of the things he has going on, without complaint.
5. Paul's birthday dinner and night out with the Poulsen's to Sole and Butterwood Gourmet Desserts. I think of the scallops in saffron cream sauce often, and the lobster mashed potatoes, and that fish Tara got with the vanilla sauce, and Paul and J's filets with the crispy onions and blue cheese puffs... ahhhh... one of the nicest meals I've had. Oh, and the company was was decent too. Ha ha. There is nothing like time with your best friends. So easy, so comfortable.
4. My boys loving each other. Wresting. Jumping. Even arguing. It starts very young. I need to rubberize my house. What a natural relationship that cannot be made... it just is.
3. Celebrating 5 years of marriage on May 31st, 2008. A great milestone! They say that the beyond the first five years the instance of separation and divorce dramatically decreases. A marriage grows stronger. Not that we've ever even discussed or thought about separating, it just is a neat fact. Oh, and the five stone anniversary band was not too shabby either! Nice work babe!
2. Adam. Just him. His ducks. His hair. His orderly way of doing things. His persistence. His dancing. Adam beginning to talk. It's hard to sum up, but this year he has began to really put sentences together, make us laugh, and just make a TON of sense! It's been great. One funny example... in bed one evening we were having some family time. Someone passed some gas, and Adam says "Who poopin?" We laughed and laughed! And, him saying "ya you" (love you), "I love puddin", "I need some help" identifying all letters and numbers 1-15 , etc, etc... it's been so rewarding. We think he's pretty special.
1. The pregnancy and birth of Zachary Richard on March 22, 2008. He was certainly "remembered by God"( his name meaning), during his complicated labor and delivery. We are blessed and filled with joy by his unique personality, adorable face, and the ridiculous amount of FUN he has added to our house. He just warms my heart.
