Things Adam Says and Does

Many of you may just scan this one. Truthfully, this is more for me than anyone else, thinking about this stuff makes me smile.
I think it's important that I document some of the cute things my little Adam says and does, because if I know myself, I will have forgotten them within an hour. Plus, if I had a dime for every time I have heard a parent say they wish they had more things documented I would have some serious cash! This child, my firstborn, certainly has a mind of his own, his own unique perceptions, and a zest for life that I hope he never loses.
First off, the child has the persistence of a squirrel. When he wants something, he will try many different ways to get it. He's even gotten down the old "ask dad if mom says no" trick. He will seem to forget, and then bring up the request again and again.... ahhh fun.
He has ways of asking for things that I am sure only his immediate caretakers understand. For instance, he will say "Ernie and Bert" when he wants to watch the previews of Sesame Street movies. I wonder what a poor babysitter would go through trying to decipher this for him if we forgot to mention it. And, saying "you-right here" when he wants someone to lay in bed with him while settling in for the night... I could go on... but I know that every child has their funny little things, I just wanted to share a few.
This brings back a memory of be "BK" (before kids). I was babysitting JJ, my BFF's older son, and he kept saying "TROW" "TROW" and I was lost... clueless. The poor kid was saying please and doing everything right, I just had no clue what he wanted. Thankfully, his aunt was there and was able to interpret that he was asking for a "STRAW".
Adan sings many songs, many of them unintelligible to the untrained ear. He also plays drums, piano, and air guitar. One might think that Adam sings his ABC's to a little girl named "LaShonda". We hear "Now LaShonda ABC's..." meaning "now I know my ABC's..." Funny stuff. His inflections with his songs are great too... when we sing "Tomorrow" from Annie, he is not scared to hold his notes a little... "Tooooooooooomorrow, Tooooooomorrow, I lub (yes, lub) ya tomorrow, it's only a day aaaaaaawayyyyyyyyyyy". He will shout "one more" or "encore" after our Rock Band sessions at home, where he wails on the drums with the beat for as long as we will let him. He also seems to have picked up on Irish Dancing, and also country line dancing ability...
Although it's strongly discouraged at my house, Adam finds ways to make sure little Z knows things are HIS. We have observed Adam covering his toys like a loose football and calling "MINE, MINE". Also, we have observed him trying other tactics, like saying "Move over Zachary" However, lately, Adam has taken a real shine to his little brother. The sweetness and love I see between them is really something that has touched me, and made me so excited for the future. In the morning, Adam will say "Hi Zachary" with the biggest smile a look of pride. He's even "rescued" him from almost falling off the couch after a nap... the look of pride after that was a kodak moment. It's really neat.
And finally, the other night while on my way out for a quick Target run, Adam says "kiss mommy", kissed me with his forehead and sent me on my way. The fact that he is so affectionate, bright, and sweet has been such a blessing... as Paul and I venture down this parenting road with our first- it's nice to that that although not perfect, we're not doing a half bad job...

I agree...documenting them makes them so much cuter! Plus...when you have a "bad" day you can go back and look at how adorable they can be!!
