A Little Throwback

Pillowcases and pillowcases of candy.  Even some full sized treats.
Mom, always creative with the costumes, making three little girls look their best.
I even won "cutest costume" as Laura Ingalls Wilder of Little House on the Prairie fame in my  LaSalle-Niagara Falls, NY neighborhood church contest.  Wish I had that pic (ok, I do. I'll consider sharing).
Halloween was always the much anticipated event. Going trick or treating from our house to our grandparents' Belden Center neighborhood, where my dad grew up and most of the neighborhood had remained the same.  They were always putting a little extra in our bags, asking us to make sure we said "hi", commenting on how big we were getting.
It must have been a different time, because I remember being turned loose until dark, not a care in the world.  No talk of avoiding strangers, we stuck together because we wanted to.
As the years went on, it became punk rocker costumes with pink and green hair color spray and the one day we could leave the house wearing as much makeup as we wanted to. Or the one and only excuse to wear PJ"s to school, dressed as a "baby".

This about sums up my childhood.  This pic is taken in my mom's current home, which at the time was her friends house (and yes, that's the Facts of Life on TV in the background. Jo & Natalie are in serious conversation)
Poor Sarah, this costume went down in history as "the toilet paper ghost"

And, now it's their turn (I won't get gratuitous here, but I've gotta share a few oldies)
Times have changed, but the magic remains.

Might be my all-time favorite Halloween pic
Adam's first Halloween

Zachary's first Halloween

Did you know I, hater of all lawn ornaments, have even considered the blow up Halloween decorations for the lawn and front porch giant spiders for their benefit.
Considered being the operative word.

Ahh! Too cute. You've got to say which kid you are in the pics, though. :o)
