Our Getaway

Paul did a very thoughtful thing for me last week! All I knew up until last Friday was to save the date.

We dropped the kids off at my mom's for the night. It's hard to leave them overnight, but they love it there and every once in a while it's a good thing to do!

So, we arrived at the undisclosed location of The Fallsview Marriot just across the border- close enough to be accessible, but enough away to be "away". We allowed the valet to take our car and checked in. Our room was a lovely king jacuzzi suite! It did not take me long to fill that tub and revel in the "doing-nothingness" of a hot, relaxing soak (I was able to enjoy 3 soaks overall!). The view was fantastic, overlooking the falls and the lights. I swear we could see our house... And, we even got to see the snowstorm that passed through as we enjoyed being 12 floors up in a very comfy king bed!

Anyway, we planned on going to the Copacabana Steak House for dinner where I had been once before. But, once we were settled room service was looking pretty good! Plus, we had never gotten room service before and it seemed like a cool thing to do. (Note to self: next time we do this, we will buy a few cans of pop, a bottle of wine, a few snacks, and some bottled water in the suitcase- I kid you not $9.95 for a bottle of Aquafina!!) So anyway, we bit the bullet and got the room service. I enjoyed grilled red snapper, and Paul, ever the adventurer, got a cheeseburger which turned out to be pretty darn good!!

We were able to enjoy our time, reconnect, and spend some time relaxing. Oh, and the extra bonus- SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!
